Egnyte® for AEC

Egnyte® is prominent in what I deliver. Here is why.

For most contractors and consultancies in Hong Kong and Macau it is the best fit I have found for project information: it keeps the drive letters people know, handles very large files, works across offices and sites, and now puts governed AI on top of the record. I have piloted it, rolled it out regionally and migrated live projects onto it.

What Egnyte® gives an AEC business

These are Egnyte®’s own AEC capabilities, in plain terms.

  • Mapped letter drives in the cloud — the M: drive your people already understand, without the file server in the cupboard. This single feature is why AEC adoption succeeds where other platforms fail: nobody has to change how they work
  • Large file collaboration — desktop-speed performance on very large models without a VPN, including for people working from site or at home
  • Ransomware detection — monitoring, alerts and recovery tools, with rollback to a point before the damage
  • Insider risk management — unusual file activity flagged. Relevant when a project team turns over, or somebody leaves for a competitor mid-job
  • Role-based access with full audit trails — who saw what, when, and who changed it
  • AI Search, AI Assistant and AI Workflows — natural-language questions across the whole project record, and approvals that run off the record itself
  • Golden Thread and compliance support — Egnyte® builds explicitly for building-safety information obligations and for CMMC where it applies

It works with the tools you already run

This is the question every AEC firm asks second, and it is the right question. Replacing the design stack is not on the table.

Egnyte® integrates with Autodesk — Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Forma — along with Procore, Bluebeam, Bentley MicroStation, Newforma, Rhino and InDesign. It sits alongside Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace rather than replacing them.

Egnyte® also publishes AEC-specific add-ons — a special file handler for the formats that break ordinary sync, and project controls for the way project folders actually need to behave.

Which of these matter to you is a five-minute conversation. Which of them you are already paying for and not using is usually a longer one.

What I add

The platform is half of it.

A licence does not produce a record. What produces a record is structure, enforced controls, and registers that are the system of truth rather than a summary of it.

  • Rules that are enforced, rather than asked for
  • A record the business owns, not one person’s spreadsheet that leaves when they do
  • A director’s view of the money quietly at risk — what a monthly report should show you and usually does not
  • Commercial information kept safe from people who do not need it
  • Outside parties in and out cleanly, so nothing critical arrives as an email attachment
  • Site records that land in the right place, dated against the job
  • AI checks on top, where the volume justifies it

Agents and customisation

Egnyte® agents for project work.

The same platform, configured around how a construction or design business actually runs a job. The agents work from your project record, not the open internet.

Agents for the job

  • Submittal checker — a submittal read against the specification, with gaps and non-compliances flagged for the reviewer
  • Correspondence assistant — “what did we agree about the ceiling void in April”, answered from the record with the letter attached
  • Revision watch — superseded drawings still in circulation flagged before someone builds to them
  • Tender pack reader — scope gaps, onerous terms and pricing conflicts surfaced before you price
  • Handover completeness — O&M and as-built packs checked against what the contract requires, as you go rather than at the end

Customised to your projects

Set up around your job types, your people and your approvals, and linked to Autodesk, Procore, Bluebeam and your accounts system where the work needs them. How that fits your business is the part I design with you.

Vendor-neutral where it matters: if a different platform fits your projects better, I will say so.

Thinking about Egnyte?

A quick call is enough to tell whether it is a licence problem, a structure problem, or neither.
